Wakefield missed considerable time in 2009 with a herniated disc in his back.  He had successful surgery on October 21, and pitched on March 5 against the Twins.

Lowell had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb on December 30. He has participated in game action, and is getting his bearings at first base and is slated to play third on March 21.

Daeges missed most of the 2009 season due to an ankle injury suffered during spring training. He underwent surgery on September 18 to remove an injured bone in his ankle.  According to the WEEI, Daeges suffered a strained lat (back) while swinging the bat, and should be fully healthy when the season commences.

Travis Beazley Shoulder April 11, 2009

Beazley suffered a serious shoulder injury in 2009.  He had been on an arm strength program, but his arm did not respond well and required surgery in January 2010. It looks as if his playing career will continue sometime in the upcoming season.

Westmoreland had surgery at Barrow Neurological Institute to remove a malformation of capillaries on his brain stem on March 16.  He had complained of headaches and dizziness in camp and a speedy decision to operate was made following the diagnosis. There is currently no timetable for Westmoreland's return to baseball.
