Physical
Description: Tall, lanky left-hander with some projection
remaining.
Mechanics: Throws from a
three-quarters arm slot. Simple, stiff, straight-up delivery. High leg
kick. No wind-up. Stays vertical throughout. Doesn't consistently finish
delivery and arm is long behind his body. Hides ball well behind. Quick to
the plate.
Fastball: 89-91 mph. Lacks life,
below-average control. Average potential.
Slider:
82-84 mph. Long, sweepy. Inconsistent, throws some with depth and nice
shape, others loose. Fringe-average potential.
Changeup:
81-83 mph. Throws with deceptive arm speed and drop. Has feel for the
pitch. Didn’t throw in looks later during 2016 season. Early on, looked
straight, but showed fringe-average potential in past.
Curveball: 74-76 mph. Used to throw long, sweeping curve that
showed two-plane break, but scrapped the pitch upon moving to the bullpen.
Career Notes: Moved to the bullpen during the 2015
season.
Summation: Potential organizational arm.
Lacks an above-average pitch and is not dominant enough against lefties to
profile as a situational lefty. Limited margin for error due to lack of
raw stuff. |
