Scouting Report
: Dutch pitcher signed with Boston in April 2008. Tall, thin frame, that has been slow to fill out. Played in the European leagues in 2007. Fastball sits 85-87 mph and occasionally tops out at 89 mph. Lacks life and the ability to miss bats. Approaches the plate on a straight plane. Average command. Mid-70s curveball tends to be on the loopy side, without sharp break. Also works an 81-83 mph changeup into sequences. Does not create enough arm speed during delivery or much drive. Potential is there to add strength and fill out. Improved velocity is key to making development steps.
