Physical Description: Strong,
athletic build with minimal remaining projection.
Mechanics: Throws from a high three-quarters
arm slot, starting on the first base side of the rubber.
Athletic delivery with some effort and deception. High leg kick.
Good extension. Arm comes through late and high and can be
disruptive to hitters. Quick arm.
Fastball:
93-96 mph. Tops out at 98 mph. Fastball has a very high spin
rate and intriguing characteristics. Command and control need
significant work. Potential average pitch that could be more
with improved control.
Slider: 83-85
mph. Shape varies, with some more vertical and others more
horizontal. Does not consistently snap the pitch off and can get
loose with it in the zone. Potential fringe-average pitch with
continued refinement. |
|
Changeup: 86-88 mph. Firm. Work in progress,
clear third pitch he does not throw often.
Career Notes: Transferred to Long Beach
State from Riverside CC. Was set to participate in the 2022 Fall
Performance Program that was canceled due to Hurricane Ian.
Struggled to start the 2023 season but had been performing much
better prior to being traded to San Francisco on July 26 for
Mauricio Llovera.
Summation: Potential
minor league depth arm. Has good velocity, but secondary pitches
need a lot of work and struggles to consistently miss bats
despite how hard he throws. Has some intriguing characteristics
to work with, including good extension and a high-spin fastball,
but still on the raw side and more of a thrower right now.
