Scouting Report:
Converted from catcher to a pitcher in July 2004 after unimpressive
numbers at the plate. The transition to pitching demonstrated signs of
success at lowers levels in 2004 and 2005. However, due to his lack
of secondary stuff, his advancement stalled at the higher levels of the
minors. In 2008, he showed some signs of life after a mid-season
switch to the starting rotation. Fastball sits in the mid-90s
and reaches 97 mph with good movement. Two-seamer sits around 91.
His secondary pitches, including a changeup and slider, are still well
below par after a few years of development. Needs to keep command
consistent, has given up too many home runs leaving the ball up in the
zone. |
