Scouting Scratch: Greenville Arms Part 1 (8.3.15)

Physical Description: Tall, athletic pitcher’s frame. Minimal projection remaining even though he is on the skinny side.

Mechanics: Starts on the first base side of the rubber and slings the ball from a side-arm delivery. Long arm action with a loop behind.

Fastball: 89-91 mph. Tops out at 93 mph. Some sink due to arm slot. Jumps on right-handed hitters. Average potential.

Slider: 75-79 mph. Long, sweepy slider. Horizontal, lacks tilt. Below-average potential.

Changeup: Reportedly throws one, but hasn’t used it in games scouted since he joined the organization.

Summation: Right-hander has fringy stuff, but throws from a tough arm slot, especially for right-handed hitters. Minimal projection in arsenal, but could have some success as a right-on-right guy in the low minors. Lacks pitch to get left-handed hitters out, which limits upside. As a result, will likely struggle if he reaches the high minors.
