Scouting Report: Otness has proven to be a solid backup catcher at high levels after signing on as an undrafted free agent in 2004. Not much power, but makes decent contact and has a nice, patient approach at the plate.  Hits lefties well.  Catching skills have improved significantly over the years, and he's proven to be above average in almost all aspects defensively.   Particularly adept as a fielder on fly balls and bunts.
