Scouting Report: Venezuelan catcher was Boston's biggest bonus baby of the 2008 early international signing period, receiving a reported bonus of $750K. Already has a major-league body. Very advanced defensively for his age. Very strong arm, but needs some work on his release mechanics. Most of his offensive tools are unrefined at this point, including his raw power potential. While some Venezuelan scouts tabbed him as a "back-up catcher at the big league level at best", Boston deemed him "in the upper-echelon of the catchers who signed" in 2008.
