Scouting Report: Weeden has great potential, as some projected he could have gone as early as the second round in 2006. Large catcher's frame with some present power and a very high power ceiling. Hits to the opposite field and center well. Aggressive hitter with a nice looking swing who is still able to demonstrate good plate patience when necessary. Struggles badly with off-speed stuff, still swinging at lots of pitches in the dirt. Behind the plate, Weeden is improving defensively and should stay at catcher despite earlier concerns he might be moved to 1B. Still, his glove and footwork need improvement. Learning to call a good game. Strong arm, needs to improve throwing accuracy. Bulked up during the 2007-08 off-season, adding some good muscle to his frame. Missed a portion of the 2008 season with a knee injury.
