  Scouting Report & Links

Physical Description: Sturdy, athletic frame. Has some remaining projection.

Mechanics: Throws from a three-quarters arm slot, starting on the third base side of the rubber. Repeats delivery well. High leg kick. Short strider with well below-average extension.

Fastball: 93-96 mph. Tops out at 98 mph in-game. Hit 100 mph in winter workouts prior to the 2024 season, but it remains to be seen if that will carry over into games. Solid command and control profile. Potential above-average offering, but projection is fluid pending in-game looks.

Slider: 85-88 mph. Long, sweepy, horizontal shape. Advanced feel. Has shown bat-missing ability in the low minors. Potential above-average offering.

Splitter: 86-90 mph. Late dive down and out of the zone. Will show bat-missing potential at its best, but is inconsistent. Potential average-to-better offering.

Curveball: 77-81 mph. Fourth pitch, used primarily as a change-of-pace offering.
Career Notes: Attended Eastern Oklahoma State College for two years prior to transferring to Oklahoma. Really impressed in the College World Series. Was drafted by the Royals in the 11th round and signed for an over-slot bonus of $397,500. Made two starts in High-A after a midseason promotion in 2023 before suffering an oblique injury that ended his 2023 season.

Summation: High-variance prospect with starter upside. Will show three pitches that are at least average with an above-average command-and-control profile. Stuff appears to have ticked up during winter workouts heading into the 2024 season, but it remains to be seen if he can hold those gains into regular season action. If the improvements with his fastball that he showed in the offseason hold, projection could change. Exciting arm with considerable upside if things click.

Note: This page will be updated with a complete scouting report after the scouting team has seen the player in person.
