Physical Description: Average
frame. Heavier than listed weight. Minimal remaining projection.
Mechanics: Throws from a three-quarters arm
slot. Stiff, arm-heavy delivery with considerable effort. Very
quick arm. Medium leg kick and long arm action with a hook
behind.
Fastball: 94-97 mph. Used to sit
97-99 mph, topping out at 100 mph. Below-average command and
control. Has the tendency to yank the pitch to the glove side.
Pitch has shown bat-missing ability in Double-A, but has to show
he can miss bats with it up in the zone. Potential plus
offering.
Slider: 82-84 mph. True power
breaking ball with 10-to-4 shape. Has shown bat-missing ability.
Solid feel for the offering. Can land in the zone for strikes or
bury down and out of the zone when looking for a swinging
strike. Potential above-average offering.

Career Notes: Has undergone
Tommy John surgery twice, in September 2016 and in June 2018.
Was selected in the minor league portion of the 2016 Rule 5
Draft by the Reds. First signed with the Red Sox as a minor
league free agent in January 2021, but left as a free agent
after one season. After a year in the Dodgers system, spent 2023
and most of 2024 pitching in the Mexican League before returning
to the Red Sox as a minor league free agent at the end of August
2024.
Summation: Potential major league
depth reliever. Ceiling of a 6th/7th inning relief arm. Command
and health will determine his upside. Has shown elite velocity
in the past and will flash an above-average slider, but has
never been able to carry his success to the Triple-A level and
has a significant injury track record. Stuff appeared down in
brief return at the end of 2024, so work during the offseason
will be key to his success in his return to the organization.
