Physical Description:
Average frame. Athletic, on the thin side. No remaining
projection.
Hit: Starts vertical and
slightly open with his hands by his chest from both sides of the
plate. Swing is more fluid from the left side and has shown
platoon splits throughout his career. Doesn’t consistently hit
the ball hard. Decent amount of swing and miss. Will take a
walk. Below-average hit tool.
Power:
Well-below-average power. Not a part of his game. .
Run: Plus speed. Good instincts, solid base
stealer.
Field: Solid-average defensive
profile. Profiles better in the corners, but is adequate in
center field. Good range, solid instincts.
Arm:
Below-average arm strength. |

Career Notes:
Played for Orleans in the Cape Cod League in 2013. Was rumored
to be part of a trade package for Jonathan Lucroy at the 2016
trade deadline that also included Francisco Mejia, Yu Chang, and
Shawn Armstrong, but Lucroy vetoed the trade. Played in the
Arizona Fall League in 2016. Was traded to San Diego in August
2020 with Mike Clevinger and Matt Waldron in exchange for Austin
Hedges, Josh Naylor, Cal Quantrill, Gabriel Arias, Owen Miller,
and Joey Cantillo. Was designated for assignment in December
2020 when the Padres signed Ha-Seong Kim and traded to the
Yankees for James Reeves. Was outrighted and cleared waivers
before the start of the 2021 season. Was on the Yankees' playoff
roster in 2021 for the Wild Card Game at Fenway. Was claimed by
Pittsburgh off waivers after the season. Missed a significant
portion of 2022 with a hamstring strain. Was outrighted after
the season and elected free agency after clearing waivers.
Signed a minor league contract with Boston in 2023 with an
invitation to major league spring training.
Summation: Solid organizational depth outfielder
capable of serving as a major league depth outfielder in stints.
