Career Notes:
Was a top prep prospect in high school in 2016. Made several
national lists, was the top player in New York state. Won a gold
medal with Team USA's U18 team in the 2015 WBSC tournament. Drafted by Baltimore in 2016 but
did not sign, went to Stanford. Played well his freshman season,
but missed significant time in 2018 due to a finger injury.
Chose not to play in 2018 to take a break from baseball. Boston
had followed him closely in 2016 and opted to draft him in 2019
and discuss his intentions for his future in baseball. Signed a
few weeks after the draft for a modest bonus. Retired during the
offseason in 2019-20 rather than opt to pursue a pro career.
Summation:
Has shown flashes of major league potential in the past. Variance between
floor and ceiling is very wide.
