Scouting Report: Medium-sized frame. Athletic and rugged. Minimal physical projection remaining. Smooth swing mechanics, stays balanced. Below-average to fringe-average hit tool. Quick hands. Showed above-average plate discipline prior to joining affiliated baseball. Doesn’t have much experience against advanced pitching, yet to prove himself in that regard. Minimal power. Above-average speed. Solid-average arm. Capable of playing all three outfield positions and second base. Best suited for corner outfield. Decent range. Went undrafted out of James Madison, where he led the Colonial Athletic Association in OBP in 2013. Following 2013 draft, finished school and went on to spend 4 ½ seasons in the independent leagues. Named the Can-Am League Rookie of the Year in 2014. Signed with Boston in June 2018, his first exposure to affiliated baseball. Like any independent league signee, will need to prove himself at every turn to earn further opportunities. Likely projects as organizational depth.
