Physical Description:
Medium-sized, filled-out frame. No projection. Thick lower half.
Mechanics: Throws from a low three-quarters
arm slot. Starts on the third base side of the rubber. Effort in
delivery. Slings the ball and lands off-line, towards third
base, on occasion.
Fastball: 92-94 mph.
Topped out at 97 mph in the past when he threw over-the-top.
Late sinking movement. Can flatten out when arm tires. Command
and control are lacking and need refinement.
Slider: 82-84 mph. Long, sweepy breaking ball. Will
front door it to left-handed hitters and bury down and away from
right-handers. Has shown the ability to miss bats at the minor
league level. Potential average offering.
Changeup: 83-85 mph split changeup. Inconsistent pitch.

Career
Notes: Drafted by Oakland in 2007 but opted to attend
Arizona St. Pitched for Cotuit in the Cape Cod League in 2009.
One of the top pitchers in college baseball in 2010 before
becoming a first-round comp pick for the Cardinals. Suspended
for the post-season in 2011 for violation of team rules. In
April 2012, he was diagnosed with enchondroma, a benign tumor on
his pitching hand. Had surgery, resulting in a loss of control.
Released following the 2014 season and subsequently retired.
Returned to baseball in 2019. Built a training facility in his
backyard during COVID-19 shutdown, which 15 pro prospects
attended at various times. Rebuilt his mechanics to throw
sidearm and was signed by Boston, pitching at the Alternate
Training Site. Opened 2021 season at Alternate Training Site.
Summation: Potential organizational relief
arm. Ceiling of an up-and-down, emergency reliever. How his
command and control develop will determine whether he can make
the next step up to the major league level.
