Physical Description: Average
frame. Has some room to fill out, but has physically matured
considerably since signing.
Mechanics:
Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot. Some effort in
delivery. Does not use a wind-up and has minimal movement before
coming forward. Medium leg kick, but shortens it from the
stretch. Long arm action with a slight stab behind. Will come
across body at times. Front side deception. Typically stays
on-line to the plate, but will fall off to the first base side
at times when he lands off-balance. Short strider.
Fastball: 92-95 mph. Tops out at 97 mph. Has
added velocity from sitting 87-91 when he was drafted and has
the frame to add more as he fills out. Pitch comes downhill and
shows some sink. Will show cut on some occasions when he
pronates his wrist. Advanced control for his age, but command
needs refinement. Potential above-average-to-plus offering if he
can maintain the additional velocity he has shown since he
returned.
Splitter: 86-88 mph. New pitch
in 2023 that he seems to have really taken to. Shows good drop
and the ability to pull the string on it. Will flash
above-average potential, but need to see how it plays in regular
season game action.
Curveball: 78-82
mph. Long, vertical breaking ball. More of a spinner at times
than a power breaking ball with tight rotation right now, but
will show flashes with solid depth. Shape will vary at times.
Inconsistent feel and will sometimes cast the pitch when he does
not snap it off. Potential average pitch.

Slider: 82-86 mph.
Plays well in conjunction with his fastball, curveball and
splitter, which are all north-south pitches. Will flash
bat-missing ability, but is inconsistent. Potential
fringe-average pitch.
Changeup: 85-87
mph. Good arm speed. Work in progress. Inconsistent feel. Will
show drop on occasion, but throws sparingly. Potential
below-average pitch. Seems to have scrapped the pitch after his
return from Tommy John surgery.
Career Notes:
Committed to Kennesaw State before signing for $125,000 over
slot for a late-round draftee. Participated in the Fall
Instructional League in 2019 and 2020. Participated in the Fall
Performance Program in 2021. Underwent Tommy John surgery on
March 17, 2022 and missed the 2022 season, returning to game
action in late May 2023. Traded for Luis UrĂas at the trade
deadline in 2023.
Summation: Potential
up-and-down swingman type with the ceiling of a back-end
starter. Stuff could also play in a bullpen role, where he could
cut down his arsenal as his secondary pitches are all
inconsistent. Development of secondary pitches and command will
be key for him to stick in the rotation, and scouts are
skeptical of that development happening. Shows confidence and
pitches with some swagger. Splitter development is an
interesting new wrinkle that gives him a better chance to
profile in a multi-inning role.
