Physical
Description: Sturdy frame. Filled-out, no remaining projection.
Mechanics: Throws from a low three-quarters arm
slot. Has moved from the extreme first base side to the middle of the
rubber. Jerky delivery. Slings the
ball, has some deception. Tough arm slot for left-handed hitters creating
uncomfortable at-bats, at least in the low minors.
Fastball: 89-90 mph. Shows arm-side run and sink.
Breaking ball: 75-79 mph. Varying shape, so could be
two pitches. At lower velocity, pitch shows short, vertical drop and looks
more like a curveball. At higher velocities, shape is more horizontal.
Changeup: 83-84 mph. Will show drop at times.
Career Notes: Pitched for one season at St.
Petersburg (Junior) College before transferring to Florida International
for two seasons.
Summation: Projects as a minor league depth
lefty. Lacks a put away pitch. Behind the developmental curve after
signing at age 23. Has had great success in Low A while old for the level,
but needs to take developmental steps forward to succeed against more
advanced hitters who will have seen pitchers with his arm angle before. |
