Career Notes: Pitched for
Hyannis in the Cape Code League in 2010 and 2011. Was drafted
three times (Pittsburgh in 2009, Colorado in 2011 as a
draft-eligible sophomore, and Arizona in 2012) before being
drafted by the Blue Jays in 2013 and signing. 2012 draft
physical revealed he had a partially torn UCL, so Arizona did
not offer him a contract. Pitched in the Arizona Fall League in
2016 and was named a Fall Star. Had Tommy John surgery in May
2018. Became a free agent following the 2019 season and signed
with the independent Sugar Land Skeeters in March before the
2020 season was essentially canceled but pitched for Sugar Land
in the four-team Constellation League and signed with the Cubs
in August. Re-signed with the Cubs following the season but was
granted his release to sign with the Seibu Lions in Japan in
2021. He returned to the Cubs in 2022, but they released him
again in August to allow him to sign with the NC Dinos in Korea.
Signed by Boston as a minor league free agent with an invitation
to major league spring training in 2023. Has a history of some
controversial social media posts.
Summation:
Potential organizational reliever. Ceiling of an emergency
up-and-down arm. Four-pitch mix, but none stand out. Throws
strikes but does not miss enough bats.
