  Scouting Report & Links      
         
  Physical Description: Strong frame. Has transformed his body since he entered pro ball. Average athleticism.

Mechanics: Throws from a three-quarters arm slot. Starts on the first base side of the rubber. High leg kick, really drives of his back side. Gets good extension. Arm action is long behind with a stab. Some effort in delivery. Needs to show he can repeat it deep into games. Throws strikes, solid command.

Fastball: 91-94 mph. Velocity had increased in Spring Training 2021 and was sitting 94-96 mph. Has some sink. Needs to show he can hold velocity deeper into games and into the season. Does not generate many swinging strikes, but does generate an above-average amount of groundballs.

Curveball 79-81, 11-to-5 movement. Hammer breaking ball with nice shape. Potential plus pitch.

Changeup: 83-86 mph. Third pitch, but has shown potential. Nice separation, has some sink to it. Potential average offering.
   Career Notes: Signed for roughly $130,000 under slot as the Royals' third-round pick in 2019. Missed a significant amount of time in college due to injuries. Acquired as a player to be named in the Andrew Benintendi trade. Missed the end of the 2021 season with a a significant ankle injury. Participated in the Fall Performance Program in 2021 as a rehabber. Missed the 2022 season after having 5 surgeries to remove a benign tumor in his heel bone.

Summation: Potential up-and-down swingman. Wider range of outcomes for a college player due to his pitch changes after the pandemic. Got into better shape and velocity has increased in 2021. Reasonably high floor as a reliever due to fastball/breaking ball combination if injury issues crop back up or command does not take a step forward.
