Physical Description:
Medium, sturdy frame. Above-average athlete. Has filled out
considerably since he signed and added a lot of strength.
Proportional frame, looks the part.
Hit:
Starts square and vertical with his hands high. Leg kick timing
device. Plus bat speed with a long swing. One-handed finish.
Fringy feel for contact. Approach is a work in progress and has
a fair amount of swing-and-miss in his game. Chase rate is a bit
high and frequency of in-zone miss has ticked up in Worcester.
Comfortable against spin, but has trouble with good changeups.
Has always hit fastballs well, but will be tested by more
advanced velocity in the high-minors. Makes more contact and
looks more comfortable against left-handed pitchers. Potential
fringe-average hit tool.
Power:
Plus-to-better raw power. Swing has natural loft. Power is
mostly to the pull side and shows up presently, especially
against lefties. Produces high-end exit velocities. Potential
above-average in-game power.
Run:
Average speed. Not the most fluid runner when accelerating, but
can move when he gets going. Not a major stolen base threat.
Speed has already decreased as he has matured and is likely to
continue to decrease.
Field: Capable of
playing any outfield position, but profiles slightly better in a
corner than in center. Slightly above-average instincts and
range in center field. Makes up for lack of speed with
athleticism and solid instincts. Routes can get a little
inefficient at times. In a corner, lack of true foot speed is
not noticeable. Potential above-average defender in the corner
outfield and average in center.
Arm:
Plus arm strength. Plenty for any outfield position.

Career Notes:
Older brother of Red Sox minor league catcher Johanfran Garcia.
Was given the nickname "The Password" by @insidefastball on
Twitter in October 2021 because of his unique first name, and
Garcia saw the tweet and adopted the moniker. The nickname did
not fully catch on until his 2024 breakout in Greenville, when
it was rediscovered and became fairly well known nationally
because of how clever it is. Played shortstop as an amateur, but
moved to the outfield in pro ball, taking to the transition
quickly. Participated in the 2021 Fall Performance Program.
Organization was very pleased with his work during the 2023-24
offseason that preceded his strong 2024 performance. Led the Red
Sox system in home runs in 2024. Was added to the 40-man roster
in November 2024 to protect him from selection in the Rule 5
Draft. Participated in the Red Sox Rookie Development Program in
January 2025. Started in the 2025 Spring Breakout and Futures at
Fenway South games.
Summation: Potential
platoon outfielder. Ceiling of an everyday center fielder. Has
consistently improved as he has moved through the system and has
multiple pathways now to being a quality major league player.
Power-over-hit profile at the plate, with substantial impact
ability, especially against lefties. Hit tool development will
determine upside, as there are major questions about how he will
handle quality pitching. Power is very legit and if given
consistent playing time, has 20-plus home run potential. Also
brings a solid defensive profile and plus arm, so there is less
pressure on his bat due to carry him to the majors. Hard worker
who takes instruction very well and has developed substantially
in all areas since he signed.
