Physical Description:
Stocky build. Strong already, but does have some projection.
Looks the part of a catcher. Given his body type, will need to
put effort into maintaining his level of fitness, particularly
coming off of his knee surgery and rehab, in what will be a very
important key to his development.
Hit: Starts square and
vertical and utilizes a leg kick timing device. Above-average
bat-speed. Fluid swing, but can get on the long side at times,
which leads to some in-zone swing-and-miss. Already shows an
all-field approach with the ability to impact the baseball.
Tracks the ball well. Good feel for the strike zone for his age.
Pitch recognition is still a work in progress, but already shows
solid aptitude at the plate. Potential fringe-average hit tool.
Power: Plus raw power. Already produces
high exit velocities, especially for his age. Has shown the
ability to drive the baseball to all fields. Potential for
above-average in-game power.
Run: Well
below-average speed. Not a part of his game and likely never
will be.
Field: Soft hands and moves
well behind the plate given his build. Framing is average and
does a good job getting down and blocking balls in the dirt.
Needs to maintain current athleticism in order to stick behind
the plate. Potential average defender.
Arm: Above-average arm strength. Potential to
be a major asset behind the plate. |

Career Notes:
Trained with Jonathan Valdez. Third-highest bonus handed out by
the Red Sox during the January 2022 signing period. Younger
brother of Red Sox minor league outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia.
Was set to participate in the 2022 Fall Performance Program that
was canceled due to Hurricane Ian. Was identified by scouts as
one of the better position player prospects in the 2023 Florida
Complex League after an impressive showing in minor league
spring training that year. Participated in the 2023 Fall
Performance Program. Played in 2024 Spring Breakout game. After
a strong first month of the 2024 season, tore two ligaments in
his knee running the bases on May 3 and missed the remainder of
the season. Was still rehabbing the injury in Spring Training
2025 and began the season on the 60-day injured list rehabbing
in Fort Myers.
Summation: Potential bat-first reserve catcher. Ceiling
of an everyday regular catcher who brings value at the plate and
in the field. Projection is fluid and depends on how he comes
back from knee surgery, which is a significant question given
his physical profile and need to work on maintaining his
physique. Prior to his injury, showed an advanced bat for his
age and the ability to impact the baseball. Has the potential
for two plus tools with his power and arm, and if his hit tool
and defense continue to develop, could rise up the prospect
rankings, both in the system and nationally.
