Physical Description: Short, stocky frame.
Catcher's build. No remaining projection.
Hit:
Starts open in a slight crouch. Short, direct swing with
average bat speed. Makes a
lot of contact. Advanced approach. Rarely chases and shows solid
pitch recognition skills, but likes to jump on bad pitches early
in the count. Struggles against breaking stuff. Potential average hit tool.
Power: Swing is more designed for gap-to-gap
contact than over-the-fence power. Will run into the occasional
home run when the pitcher makes a mistake. Power is primarily to the pull-side.
Below-average power potential.
Run:
Below-average speed. Strong baserunning instincts.
Field: Plays first base and catcher in roughly
equal amounts at this point. Adequate first baseman. Potential fringe-average defender
behind the plate.
Average receiver and game caller. Moves laterally and blocks
marginally well, but is not a standout catcher. Also capable of
playing second base in a pinch.
Arm: Fringe-average arm strength. Has had
trouble controlling the running game at the major league level. |

Career Notes: Local product, originally from
Merrimack, N.H., although his family is from New Jersey and he
grew up a Yankees fan. Attended Bryant at the same time as Red
Sox scout Dante Riccardi. Spent six seasons in the Yankees
system prior to the Red Sox selecting him in the 2023 minor
league Rule 5 draft. Earned first MLB call-up in August 2024.
Traded to the Twins for Jovani Moran in December 2024. Claimed
off waivers by Washington in January 2026, then claimed
again by the Red Sox in February 2026.
Summation: Solid organizational player with
enough skills at the plate and positional versatility to also
serve as emergency major league depth, but whose best fit in the
majors at this point is probably as a designated hitter who can
move into the field on occasion. Ceiling of a major league
reserve utility player. Lacks a carrying tool, but is solid
across the board at the plate, where he gets the most
out of his skills. Defense behind the plate is not great,
fitting at best in a reserve role where he does not have to handle a
full-time catching workload, but more ideally as a third catcher
who gets most of his work elsewhere and will not get overexposed at any one spot.
Works hard and is well-liked in the clubhouse. Leaves it all out
on the field and plays with a love for the game.
