Physical Description: Medium
frame. Has some remaining projection, especially his upper body,
where he could stand to add some strength.
Hit:
Starts open and vertical with his hands high. Abbreviated leg
lift timing device. Short swing, direct to the ball. Very strong
hand-eye coordination and feel for contact. Tough to strike out
and rarely misses pitches in the zone. Slightly above-average
chase rate. Makes a lot of contact on a line and in the air.
Advanced feel for hit. Added bat speed heading into the 2026
season. Potential above-average hit tool.
Power:
Average raw power. Very fluid power grade given his bat speed
gains. Power plays best to the pull side. Could stand to hit the
ball harder and has the chance to with his added bat speed. In
college, produced average exit velocities at best and his max
exit velocity of 108.3 mph was on the lower end.
Run: Fringe-average speed at best. Not a major stolen
base threat.
Field: Average defensive
profile at second base. Will make the routine plays, but does
not project as a standout defender. Also played some third base
in college. Was announced as a shortstop and looks there in pro
ball, at least to start his career, in addition to second base,
but is unlikely to stick at shortstop long-term. Lacks fluidity
and range there.
Arm: Average arm strength. |

Career Notes: Was high school
teammates with 2025 AL Rookie of the Year Nick Kurtz. Three-year
starter at second base for Virginia. Had his best collegiate
season as a sophomore, when he was a Second Team All-American,
and entered 2025 as one of the top second basemen in the country
before a slightly down draft year. Had entered the transfer
portal following his junior year after UVA coach Brian O'Connor
left for Mississippi State. Started in both the 2026 Spring
Breakout, where he homered, and Futures at Fenway South games.
Summation: Right-handed hitter with a
contact-over-hit profile. Elite contact skills. Fits the mold of
college bats the Red Sox have targeted and elevated in recent
drafts. Bat speed has improved and has the frame of someone who
should hit for more power than he showed at Virginia. If he can
hit the ball harder, more consistently, without sacrificing much
contact, could develop into an intriguing middle infield
prospect.
