Physical Description:
Tall, muscular frame. Athletic, but not as much as he used to
be. Maxed-out physically.
Hit:
Switch-hitter with a different stance from each side. Starts
slightly open with a leg lift timing device from the left side
and closed and upright from the right side. Swing is much better
from the right, where it is more geared towards hard, line drive
contact. Shows more bat speed and better barrel control from
that side as well. Average pitch recognition. Picks up secondary
pitches from lefties better than righties. At-bats need to be
minimized against right-handed pitching at this point in his
career for him to be successful. Lot of swing-and-miss in his
game at this point. Average hit tool vs. lefties and poor vs.
righties.
Power: Above-average raw
power. Will show the ability to drive it out to all fields in
batting practice. Power only plays at fringe-average in games
due to struggles against right-handed pitching and considerable
swing-and-miss.
Run: Above-average
speed. Injuries have slowed him down some, and speed could
decrease further as he gets older.
Field:
Average defensive profile. Versatile defender who has seen time
at every position but pitcher and catcher. Primarily plays
shortstop and second base, but has also seen time at first base,
third base, and all three outfield positions. Average range in
the infield and soft hands. Not a standout defender, but
passable everywhere. |

Arm:
Above-average arm strength. Fringe-average accuracy.
Career Notes:
Drafted and signed by the Twins in 2010, made his MLB debut with
them in September 2017 before being outrighted and electing free
agency following the season. Signed with the Tigers as a minor
league free agent that offseason and made the club out of camp,
getting significant playing time over the next four seasons,
including solid campaigns in 2018 and 2019. Was outrighted
following the 2021 season and elected free agency, signing a
one-year MLB contract with the Astros. Struggled significantly
in 15 games and was optioned to Triple-A, where he struggled
with injuries and was released in September after being
designated for assignment. Signed by Boston as a minor league
free agent in 2023 with an invitation to major league spring
training.
Summation: Potential
up-and-down depth player. Valuable organizational player at this
stage in his career who could be called upon to bring defensive
versatility and platoon-hitting ability at the major league
level in small bursts. Brings energy to the field every day.
High baseball IQ.
