Physical Description: Thick,
extra large pitcher's frame. Sturdy build with no remaining
projection.
Mechanics: Throws from a
high three-quarters arm slot, starting on the first base side of
the rubber. Medium-high leg kick, falls off to the first base
side after release. Effort in delivery with considerable recoil.
Lot of moving parts. Quick back with an arm hook behind.
Inconsistent release point. Is more over-the-top on his four
seam, but drops a little bit, closer to three-quarters, for his
slider.
Fastball: 92-94 mph. Four-seam.
Fringe-average control and below-average command. Pitch is on
the straight side, but will throw it up in the zone. Struggles
to miss bats; primarily used to generate weak contact. Velocity
has been up to 97 mph in the past, but has not shown that
velocity in 2023. Potential fringe-average offering.
Split-Finger Fastball: 81-84 mph. Good
separation from his fastball, nice change-of-pace pitch. Keeps
hitters off balance. Shows late, parachuting action at its best,
but is not consistent with it. Will flash average potential and
bat-missing ability when at its best.

Slider: 80-84 mph. Shape varies. Mostly shows
short, horizontal break, but will also show more vertical break
as well. Struggles to miss bats. Fringe-average potential.
Career Notes: Signed by the Giants out of
Venezuela in 2014 and spent eight years in that organization.
Was suspended for 80 games in April 2019 following a positive
test for Stanozolol. Signed a minor league contract with Boston
with an invitation to 2023 Major League Spring Training. Was
part of the pitcher pool for Venezuela at the 2023 World
Baseball Classic. Used in a swingman role in Worcester, both
starting and throwing in both long- and short-relief. Recalled
to Boston as 27th man for doubleheader in July 2023 but did not
pitch.
Summation: Projects as a high-minors,
multi-inning depth swingman. Ceiling of an emergency up-and-down
arm. Solid organizational depth, but has minimal upside.
Fastball/splitter combination is somewhat interesting when he
can locate them north-south, but inconsistency with command and
inability to miss bats limits him. Has shown the ability to
limit hard contact when he is commanding his pitches, but lacks
the stuff you look for in someone to hold down a consistent
major league role.
