Physical Description: Large, soft, bad body. Lacks physical conditioning and projection.

Mechanics: Three-quarters arm slot. Low-effort, controlled delivery. Medium leg kick. Arm action works. Lacks momentum and extension. Lands upright and stiff. Works quickly, repeats delivery.

Fastball: 88-90 mph. Tops out at 92 mph. Pitch shows arm-side run, but lacks life. Doesn’t miss many bats. Average command and control. Fringe-average potential.

Slider: 79-82 mph. Solid feel for pitch. Slurvy 2-to-8 break. Two-plane movement, will show depth. Average potential.

Changeup: 79-81 mph. Pitch shows fade and throws with deceptive arm speed. Fringe-potential offering.

Curveball: 71-76 mph. Long break. Slow, loopy, and doesn’t consistently snap off. Tends to roll to the plate. Below-average potential, but didn’t throw during any outings scouted during the 2016 season.

Career Notes: July 2012 international free agent at the age of 16. Has mostly played at age-advanced levels since joining the organization. Participated in 2013 and 2014 Fall Instructional League. Pitches for the Navegantes del Magallane in the Venzuelan Winter League during the off-season.

Summation: Projects as a solid organizational starter, capable of going out every fifth day and giving you five or six innings for the entire season. Fringy four-pitch mix, but knows how to pitch and mixes his pitches well. Durable player, has shown the ability to throw 140+ innings each year. and give you five innings against low-minors hitters, but minimal long-term potential.
