Scouting Report: Big, strong first baseman signed by Boston in May 2005 as a draft-and-follow from the 2004 draft. High power potential, knocks the ball out of the park regularly in batting practice. Jones was converted from an outfielder to a first baseman in 2006 and impressed in the GCL despite being somewhat old for the league. Has continued to demonstrate an ability to make contact and above-average plate patience at the lower levels, but still hasn't shown much home run power in game action. Very slow on the basepaths and unathletic in the field.
