Notes from the Field: Day Two (3.18.16)
Polished lefty with a simple, repeatable delivery. Undersized and
on the skinny side. Limited projection in body. Starts from the extreme
third base side of the rubber. Typically uses three-quarters arm slot, but
will drop to sidearm with two strikes to give hitters another look.
Compact, efficient delivery with clean arm action and some deception. Good
pitchability; has a plan for each batter and knows what he wants to do.
Very good pick-off move that is deceptive and very subtle. Fastball works
in the 84-88 mph range. Primarily cuts the pitch, but will also show
arm-side run. Throws strikes and has solid command. Slider works 78-82 mph
with short break, and can look like a cutter at times. Changeup works
76-80 mph, on the lower end of the velocity band when throwing over the
top and the higher end when thrown sidearm. Solid differential between
fastball at lower velocity band. Does not have a typical profile, but has
a chance as a lefty who can pound the strike zone, has deception and can
manipulate the ball, giving hitters different looks. Upper minors starting
depth who can also come out of the bullpen. Nice organizational player.
