  Scouting Report & Links

Physical Description: Average build with no remaining projection. Good athlete.

Mechanics: Throws from a three-quarters arm slot. Starts on the first base side of the rubber. Jerky delivery with some effort. Short strider. Long arm swing back with a quick loop forward. Quick arm. .

Fastball: 93-95 mph. High spin rate. On the straight side, but has some carry up in the zone. Is generally around the zone, but command still needs work. Potential above-average offering.

Curveball: 80-82 mph. 11-to-5 shape with depth at its best. Potential average offering.

Slider: 88-90 mph. Short, gyro slider. Sharp horizontal break. Potential fringe-average offering.
Career Notes: Was selected by Atlanta in the 31st round of the 2017 draft as a junior, but elected not to sign. Returned to Clemson for his senior season and was selected by Arizona in the 6th round of the 2018 draft, signing for well below slot for $25,000. Spent two seasons with Arizona before being released in 2020. Pitched in independent ball in 2021 and at the start of 2022 before signing with the Yankees in May. Had issues with elbow inflammation in college and finished the 2022 season on the injured list with an undisclosed injury. Selected by the Red Sox in the second round of the minor league phase of the 2022 Rule 5 Draft. Selected by the Angels in the minor league phase of the 2023 Rule 5 Draft.

Summation: Potential organizational reliever. Ceiling of an emergency up-and-down relief arm. Fastball and curveball play well off each other north/south, and slider adds another wrinkle to keep hitters off balance. Fastball showed bat-missing ability and improved command and control in 2023.
