  Scouting Report & Links

Physical Description: Average athlete with a developed body. Lower half has filled out considerably since signing. Looks taller than his listed 5-foot-11.

Mechanics: Throws from a three-quarters arm slot. Starts on the third base side. High leg kick. Short arm action, hides the ball well. Effort in delivery. Significant recoil and head whack after pitch.

Fastball: 93-95 mph. Pitch shows life and jumps on hitters. Command and control have improved significantly since move to the bullpen, but still will come and go from outing to outing. Relies heavily on the pitch. Fastball velocity has ticked up from 90-92 mph in 2019. Potential plus offering with refined command.

Slider: 81-82 mph. Pitch shows tilt and depth at its best. Does not consistently finish the pitch and will get on the side of it at times. Potential fringe-average offering.

Changeup: 84-85 mph. Inconsistent. Shows late drop with deceptive arm speed when he has it working well. Potential fringe-average offering.

Curveball: 75-79 mph. Didn’t use pitch in 2021 look and may have scrapped it. Lacks feel. Does not consistently snap the pitch off. Tends to roll to the plate with 1-to-7 shape. Work in progress. Below-average potential.

Career Notes: Signed out of Venezula at age 17. Moved through the system slowly early in his career. Spent three seasons in the complex leagues and two in Lowell. Regardless, still not old for his level. Moved to the bullpen in 2019.

Summation: Potential organizational relief arm. Ceiling of a major league middle reliever. Wide range of outcomes still. Needs to continue improving command/control and develop a complimentary pitch to his fastball. Velocity has jumped year-over-year. Slider shows more potential than changeup or curveball did, but needs work.
