Physical Description:
Sturdy catcher's frame. Now in his mid-30s, has had some injury
struggles in recent years including to his right ankle, right
rotator cuff, hamstrongs, and quads.
Hit:
Bottom of the order bat. Even at his peak was a below-average
hitter, but hits enough to for a team to carry him on a roster
for his glove.
Power: Below to fringe-average
power. Had one abberational year in 2021 where he hit 23 home
runs.
Run:
Below-average speed. Not a part of his game.
Field: Elite defensive catcher if healthy. Commands a
pitching staff. Excellent pitch framer. Solid footwork, blocks
the ball well.

Arm:
Plus, accurate arm.
Career Notes:
Spent twelve seasons in the Indians' system. Two-time Gold Glove
winner. Won a silver medal in the WBC in 2017. Reportedly close
with Red Sox manager Alex Cora. Signed to a split deal with
Boston in December 2023.
Summation:
Excellent backup catcher option if healthy, but has not been
healthy in a few years. May need to get himself back on track in
Triple-A prior to getting back to the MLB level.
