Scouting Report:
Outfielder with
five-tool potential. Plays the game at full tilt. Raw power potential
and above-average speed. Historically strikes out a ton and struggles a
lot with off-speed pitches. He has shown recent improvement in that
area, but his power numbers have struggled in that period. Very good
defensive outfielder - strong arm with excellent range, gets a good jump
on balls hit out to center. Place made a lot of adjustments to the Red
Sox hitting philosophies in his first few years in the organization,
particularly putting a lot of work towards improving his swing. His
development has come along slowly, and his swing is looking better as
time goes on, but it still lacks fluidity. Overall, he's going to have
to get the bat on the ball more and cut his strikeout numbers down -
while keeping his power numbers up - if he wants to make the grade at
higher levels. Place is a super-confident player, and that has rubbed a
lot of his teammates the wrong way in the past. |
