Physical Description: Thin,
athletic build. No remaining projection.
Mechanics: Throws from a low-three-quarters arm slot,
starting in the middle of the rubber. Medium leg kick. Gets low
in his delivery and hides the ball well. Average extension.
Fastball: 89-91 mph. Tops out at 92 mph.
Primarily throws a sinker, which he uses more than 50% of the
time. Heavy drop, generates a lot of ground balls. Inconsistent
command and control.
Slider: 78-81 mph.
Primary secondary pitch. Two-plane movement that’s more
horizontal than vertical.
Changeup:
78-82 mph. Show-me third pitch, not often utilized. Thrown
almost exclusively to right-handed hitters. Has some movement,
but not a ton of separation from his sinker.

Career Notes: Drafted by the
Nationals in 2010 but did not sign. Worked as a starter for his
first three years in the Cardinals' system. Dropped his arm
angle in the minors in 2016. Made major league debut as a
reliever with St. Louis in 2017. Had Tommy John surgery in June
2018 and was released two months later. Signed with the Rays as
a minor league free agent in October 2018. Stepped away from
baseball for roughly two weeks in April 2021 while dealing with
mental health/anxiety issues and has continued to speak out
about the subject of mental health in baseball. Pitched for Team
Israel in the 2017 World Baseball Classic qualifiers and did so
again in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Was claimed off
waivers by the Phillies in November 2021. Missed considerable
time in 2022 with bicep tendonitis. Signed by Boston as a minor
league free agent with an invitation to major league spring
training in 2023. Split time between MLB and Triple-A in the
first half of the season before being designated for assignment
shortly before the All-Star Break. Was outrighted after clearing
waivers and elected free agency.
Summation: Potential
emergency up-and-down left-handed specialist. Solid
organizational type who could potentially carve out a major
league role if he is consistently getting lefties out.
