Physical Description:
Undersized, short, stocky build. Listed at 5-foot-10, 195 pounds, but
looks heavier. No projection, sturdy lower half.
Mechanics: Starts far over on the first base side of the rubber.
Throws from an over-the-top arm slot. Long arm action with arm swing
behind, but short coming forward. Slings ball. Lot of moving parts in
delivery, including keeping glove in sight line, which creates some
deception. Works quickly.
Fastball: 89-91 mph.
Tops out at 92 mph. Lacks plane due to height. Will show some late
arm-side run when down in the zone. Velocity tails off later in the game;
comes out 90-91 mph, but ends up 88-89 mph. Solid control. Fringe-average
potential.
Changeup: 81-83 mph. Will flash
splitter-like dive late when he turns it over. Inconsistent, will
noticeably slow arm at times. Below-average potential.
Slider: 81-83 mph. Sweepy 10-to-4 break. Lacks bite.
Below-average potential.
Career Notes: Went
undrafted out of Kansas and has spent two years pitching for the Gateway
Grizzlies of the Frontier League.
Summation:
Undersized right-hander with minimal projection and below-average stuff.
Minimal upside. Projects as a depth arm for the low minors. |
