Scouting Report:
Great plate patience and judgment, hits to all fields, tremendous power.
Dead pull swing with a few correctable holes. Open stance with
minimal stride. Drafted as a catcher. Behind the plate,
Still is a great game caller and leader, but is somewhat slow and unathletic. He
is below average
defensively as a backstop. Average to below average
arm strength with a slow release - inability to hold runners have led to
him no longer getting serious reps behind the plate. He still may have the
offensive tools to advance as a first baseman, particularly considering his power.
However, his
defensive skills at first base have also been called into question, so he could be
a designated hitter long term. Began getting some work in the
outfield in the spring of 2010. |
