Physical Description: Average frame with some projection remaining. Needs to add strength. Average athlete.

Hit: Open, vertical stance. Starts with hands high and loops bat, bringing hands down then back up pre-pitch. Uses a toe-tap timing device. Bat takes time to get in the hitting zone. Fringe-average bat speed. Solid bat control, but aggressive approach. Lot of swing-and-miss, struggles to recognize spin. Often caught out on front side against off-speed pitches. Struggles with velocity, especially up in the zone. Bat will be tested by more advanced pitching.

Power: Not a major part of his game. Well below-average raw power. Projects for gap power. Might run into a few home runs a year.

Arm: Average arm. Has some trouble making the throw from deep shortstop, but passable there.

Field: Has played primarily second base and shortstop since he signed. Fringe defender at shortstop. Footwork can get sloppy, doesn’t always stay down. Average range, hands work. Defensive tools better suited for second base than shortstop. Could be an average defender at second base.

Run: Average speed.

Summation: Will have to show significant progress to get out of the low minors. No tool projects as better than average, unlikely to stick at shortstop long-term. Could be a solid depth player in the low minors, but will be tested both offensively and defensively if he reaches the high minors.
