Physical Description: Tall,
sturdy frame. Thick lower half. Will have to watch his body as
he gets older. Minimal remaining projection.
Mechanics: Throws almost directly over the top. Gets
good extension. Jerky delivery with considerable effort. Arm is
short back and long coming forward. Stiff arm action. Quick arm
that can get out of sync with the rest of his delivery.
Inconsistent release point. Has a head whack and falls off hard
to the first base side. Very tough angle for hitters and gets a
lot of deception with all the moving parts in his delivery.
Fastball: 91-93 mph. Used to top out at 98
mph, but has not shown that kind of velocity in regular season
games since he returned from an extended stay on the development
list in 2024. Has among the highest IVB in the system and shows
plus carry up in the zone. Has the traits teams look for in a
fastball and showed substantial bat-missing ability in the low
minors. Command and control need work. Struggles to get ahead
and walks too many hitters. Pitch lacks consistency from outing
to outing. Velocity fell off considerably during the 2024
season, but was almost all the way back during spring training
2025. Potential fringe-average pitch with refined command.
Curveball: 78-82 mph. More vertical than
horizontal. Will flash depth and tight rotation, but hangs too
often. Potential fringe-average offering.
Slider:
85-86 mph. Shorter, more horizontal shape. Potential
fringe-average offering.

Career Notes: Brother, Ryan,
walked on to the team at UC Santa Barbara as a right-handed
pitcher after transferring from Santa Barbara City College.
Highly regarded coming out of high school as a catcher. Was
named an Under Armour All-American his senior year. Moved to the
bullpen as a college freshman at UC Santa Barbara when that
proved a better path to playing time. Underwent Tommy John surgery during the summer of 2019.
Played in the Cape Cod League with Cotuit after the 2019 and
2021 seasons. Participated in the Fall Performance Program in
2021. Missed the first month-and-a-half of the 2022 season with
an undisclosed injury. Participated in the Arizona Fall League
in 2023. Developed a significant social media presence related
to baseball as well as his real estate investment pursuits and
other topics over the 2023-24 offseason, but backed off of that
somewhat during the 2024 season. Named to 2024 Spring Breakout
roster. Spent a little over a month on
the development list in May/June 2024, during which time he went
to Fort Myers to address his struggles to start the season. Was
pulled up from minor league camp often to pitch in major league
games during Spring Training 2025.
Summation:
Potential mid-minors depth arm. Ceiling of an organizational
reliever. Showed intriguing raw stuff in the past, but stuff
backed up considerably in 2024 and carried over into 2025.
Struggles to consistently throw strikes and has struggled with
control throughout his career. Has also missed time with
injuries. Quality of stuff varied considerably in 2024, as he
came out showing premium velocity in camp, but then would sit at
around 90 mph at times during the season. Velocity got back to
the 93-95 mph range in Spring Training 2025, but backed up again
during the regular season.
