80% = will be due at least 80% of prior year's contract
AST = Approximate Service Time (season end-2012). Measured in years.days. 172 days = 1 year of MLB service time. Generally, players are paid the minimum contract for service years 0 - 2.135, are arbitration eligible for service years 2.135 - 5.171, and are eligible for free agency after accruing 6 years of service time. These rules may also be contracted around, as players with under 3 years of service time may sign for above the minimum, and arbitration-eligible players may sign away their arbitration years.
