Physical Description:
Short, stocky catcher's build. Thick lower half. No remaining
projection.
Hit: Starts square with his
hands high. Quick, short leg left timing device. Longer,
uppercut swing. Fringy bat speed. Hits the ball hard when he
makes contact, but has considerable swing-and-miss in his game,
especially on fastballs up in the zone and premium velocity.
There are questions about how his bat will translate against
major league pitching.
Power: Average
raw power. Power is primarily to the pull side. Game power is
closer to fringe-average at best, and it is unclear if he will
be able to actualize even that given the questions about his hit
tool.
Run: Well below-average speed. Not
a part of his game.
Field: Strong
defensive profile. Fluid actions; good receiving and framing
skills. Better framing at the bottom of the zone, but
inconsistent at the top and regressed some in 2024 compared to
prior seasons. Potential above-average defender. |

Arm:
Plus arm. Strong, accurate arm. Very quick release, does a nice
job controlling the running game.
Career Notes:
Cousin of MLB veteran catcher Omar Narvaez. Was added to the
Yankees' 40-man roster in November 2023 to protect him from
selection in the Rule 5 Draft. Made his MLB debut in July 2024,
getting a six-game cup of coffee. Acquired by the Red Sox in
December 2024 in exchange for Elmer Rodriguez.
Participated in the Red Sox Rookie Development Program in
January 2025.
Summation: Potential glove-first, up-and-down third
catcher. Ceiling of an above-average backup catcher. High floor
because of his defense. Chance to be an impact defender and add
a little pop and on-base ability at the plate if he reaches his
potential. Unlikely to add considerable value offensively, but
still has the chance to be a valuable player due to his
defensive profile.
Note: This page will be
updated with a complete scouting report after the scouting team
has seen the player in person.
